Ascension Sunday - "So They May Become One" - Rev. Heidi Fiore

May 10, 2026 We gathered briefly to mark the ocassion of beginning work on a major renovation project for the Howland Hall Community Center, the hall attatched to our church building. This renovation is seeking to make the building more accessible and energy efficient while also working to update needed kitchen and audio/visual equipment in order to be a space that can better serve our community.

Maybe our small errors add up; or maybe there is no degree to sin, that one is as hurtful as another. Help us not to dwell on vocabulary. Help us not to focus on what sin means but to acknowledge that we do things that hurt other people, and the creation, and ourselves, and you. Come into our hearts, then, and give us strength and courage to be less hurtful and more loving. Pastor Heidi: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. ALL: It is right to give our thanks and praise. Pastor Heidi: It is right, and a good and joyful thing, always and everywhere to give thanks to you, Almighty God, creator of heaven and earth. You formed us in your image and breathed into us the breath of life. When we turned away, and our love failed, your love remained steadfast. You delivered us from captivity, made covenant to be our sovereign God, brought us to a land flowing with milk and honey, and set before us the way of life. And so, with your people on earth and all the company of heaven we praise your name and join their unending hymn: ALL: Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory.
